Manufactured by the William Buckley Co. of New York, New York, circa 1830, this historic bell was installed in the steeple of Centenary Methodist Church in 1839. Along with ringing for weekly services, during the 19th and early 20th century it warned local citizens of Indian raids and Civil War conflicts, and it was rung to celebrate significant community events, including honoring World War II veterans and the 100th anniversary of Centenary Church. Moved to its current location and rededicated on 29 September 2012, the bell continues to sound its call to worship for Centenary United Methodist Church and the surrounding community.
