Edgar S. McFadden
Science & Tech
Edgar S. McFadden, a Day County farmer, agronomist, and plant pathologist, was born on February 3, 1891, in Webster Township, Day County, South Dakota, the son of humble Christian parents. There, through intelligent and untiring effort, under providential guidance and without regard for personal gain, he produced a parent wheat stock now used by plant breeders around the world. That parent wheat gave birth to and became the foundation of all rust- and disease-resistant wheats, providing a bounteous harvest for fellow farmers and bread to a hungry world.
