Originally built as a French fort with no doors or windows, a log roof, and an entrance through a protected underground tunnel, this structure was later sold and used as a dwelling. Doors, windows, floors, and a roof were added at that time. It has been restored to present a picture of life as lived by pioneer farmers about 1800. The building was moved 10 miles to this spot.
