Crockett County’s first county court met on the second floor of the original Methodist Episcopal Church here on March 12, 1872, with Isaac Johnson as chairman and Commissioners W.N. Beasley, John F. Sinclair, J.F. Robertson, David A. James, Asa Dean, Frank F. Wood, Dr. T.J. Hicks, and John E. Pearson. The town’s name was changed from Cageville the same year.
