Patriots who gave their lives for their country are remembered here, including soldiers of the American Revolution and soldiers and sailors of the War of 1812. The original flag staff and plaque were dedicated September 6, 1913 by The Illinois State Organization, NSDAR, under Mrs. George A. Lawrence, Regent. The Illinois State Organization, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, dedicated this flag staff October 23, 1986 under Mrs. Howard F. Lee, State Regent.
