Chateau Laroche, better known as Loveland Castle, is a small castle-like museum on the Little Miami River north of Loveland, Ohio, begun in 1927 by Harry D. Andrews, a World War I veteran, Boy Scout leader, and medieval enthusiast. Inspired by a French military hospital where he had been stationed, Andrews spent more than fifty years building the structure from river stones and homemade bricks. After his death in 1981, he left it to his Boy Scout troop, the Knights of the Golden Trail, which continued the work, expanded the grounds, and added exhibits. The site endures as a handmade monument, museum, and local legend.
