Robert Morris, Sr., buried in 1750, had been an ironmonger in Liverpool, England, before immigrating to Oxford, Maryland, where he became a successful merchant and agent. He accumulated a fortune that he bequeathed to his son, Robert Morris, who was born on 20 Jan. 1734 and died on 7 May 1806 and became the financier of the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
