Billy the Kid lived on this site in a small log house from 1873 to 1875 with his mother Catherine, who died in 1874, his brother Joe, and his stepfather William Antrim. That house was torn down in 1894. A cabin in 1870's style now on the site was a gift from movie producer and director Ron Howard, part of the set of his 2003 movie “The Missing,” and negotiated as a gift by the NM Dept. of Tourism.
