At Gooseberry Falls, young men known as the CCC boys built park structures by hand from stone and log, and many of their creations from the 1930s still stand in the park, with most within a mile. Their work includes the Castle, the bridge, Falls View Shelter, Lady Slipper Lodge Pump House, Lakeview Shelter, the Gitchi Gummi Trail Water Tower, and viewpoints connected by a self-guided tour.
