The Barclay House was built about 1830 and later became the home of Dr. James Turner Barclay, an inventor for the U. S. Mint and a missionary to Jerusalem. He founded the adjacent Diciples Church in 1846 and served as its first preacher. The house is now the Scottsville Museum.
