Tassajara School, a one-room schoolhouse built by the Tassajara School District in 1889, served the entire area until 1946, when the district was merged with the Danville Union School District. During the school’s early years, students planted and cared for the black walnut trees. In 1957, the school was deeded to the local fire district for preservation.
