Major General Jarrett Jackson Robertson, born in 1940 and killed in 1993, served his country in numerous positions of great responsibility. A distinguished cavalryman, he had an illustrious career that included combat tours in Vietnam and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. At Fort Bliss, he served as Commander of 2d Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment from 1980 to 1982 and as Commander and 62d Colonel of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment from 1987 to 1989. His superb leadership, selfless devotion to duty, and total dedication to his soldiers and their families were an inspiration to all. He was killed in a tragic helicopter accident in 1993 while serving as Deputy Commanding General, Fifth US Corps.
