Lake Ridge Island Mounds is an archaeological site on Lake Ridge Island in Indian Lake near Russells Point, Ohio, made up of four small earthen rises at the island’s north end. Though only about 3 feet high and 40 feet across, and easily mistaken for natural knolls, the mounds remained in excellent condition in the 1970s and had not been disturbed by artifact hunters. Later researchers thought they resembled small Hopewell mounds and saw them as potentially important for understanding the beginnings and decline of Hopewell activity in the Midwest. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, they are Logan County’s only historic district.
