The Ennis Archaeological Site in rural southern Indiana, near Ellettsville and stretching from Monroe County into part of Owen County near Spencer, is a significant archaeological location. Its importance was formally recognized in 1985 when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. That listing carried special local significance because it was the first archaeological site in Monroe County to be placed on the register and the only site in Owen County to receive that honor.
