Warm Springs Mountain is a high Appalachian ridge in Bath County, Virginia, whose steep, forested crest forms the divide between the Jackson and Cowpasture river watersheds. Its streams and warm mineral springs, including the waters linked to the Warm Springs Pools, made the area important for hydrology, healing, recreation, and later resort development. The mountain is also a major biodiversity site, supporting a globally significant fire-dependent pine barren ecosystem, rare plants, uncommon animals, and migrating birds. Conservation now centers on the nine thousand-acre Warm Springs Mountain Preserve, where habitat restoration, water protection, and controlled burns help sustain this larger protected landscape.
