Established in 1818 by the City of Huntsville, Maple Hill Cemetery became the final resting place of many citizens of the community. Those buried there include men who served in the major wars of the nation, many public servants, and many citizens whose good works may have been known only to God. Among the outstanding people buried in the cemetery are Alabama Governors Thomas Bibb, Clement Comer Clay, Reuben Chapman, Robert Miller Patton, and David Peter Lewis.
