Lake Benton Opera House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. As a memorial to all who had supported the opera house since its inception, the 1979 Centennial Committee donated $5,000 toward the 1981 restoration project on behalf of the community. A roof fund drive in 1981 also recognized donors of $100 or more, including many individuals, families, clubs, banks, businesses, civic groups, and memorial gifts connected with Lake Benton and nearby communities.
