The Harry P. Schmidt Building was donated on May 29, 1973, by the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Merced County in recognition of Harry P. Schmidt’s 28 years of public service as county supervisor of Merced County. The association officers were President Joseph A. Proietti, Vice President Frank Rico, and Secretary Albert Dibblee, and participating agencies and individuals came from Atwater, Dos Palos, Gustine, Livingston, Los Banos, Merced, and Winton.
