William Pryor Letchworth donated Glen Iris and his estate, comprising the original 1,000 acres of this park, including Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls, so that this gorge might remain a place of inspiration and beauty forever. His donation of these lands to the people of the State of New York was made 50 years before 1957.
