Cameron City Pool
History
1
Constructed in 1939 with a PWA grant, Cameron City Pool was a unique semi-circular pool with an underwater lifeguard station designed by Frank Hunter. Its beach area once had sand from Lake Michigan, and the pool also served as an emergency reservoir for fire protection. Listed on the National Register in 1993, it later fell into disrepair and closed in 2008, then reopened in 2013 through the efforts of community volunteers and corporate sponsors.
