Established on May 25, 1812, as part of Boyle, Perinton was named for Glover Perrin. His brother, Jesse Perrin, a Revolutionary War veteran and early pioneer, donated land for the first cemetery. Perinton was home to Certo and Sure Jell apple pectins, the Salaratus Works, and the American Can Company. Amos Cobb invented the first solderless tin can there in 1904.
