Old Poteat School, built about 1900 by the Poteat family for neighborhood school use, originally served as a one-room school at the corner of County Home Road and Slade Road. The building has a small gable front with a single paneled front door and overhanging eaves. About 1985, it was donated to the Caswell County Historical Association and moved to its present location behind the historic Courthouse with assistance from the Future Farmers of America of Bartlett Yancey High School, who received a national award for their help with the project. The school is open by appointment, which can be arranged at the Richmond-Miles History Museum.
