During the conflict of June 21 and 22, 1922, men lost their lives in a time of labor unrest and lawlessness that remains the country's largest loss of life due to a labor dispute, a tragedy known as the Herrin Massacre. Those named among the victims were Robert J. Anderson, Robert Marsh, Raymond Jacobs, Arthur B. Miller, Horatio Gosman, Antonio Molkavich, Ignatz Kubinetz, Emel John, I. Morelock, Fred Lang, C.E. Davis, George Hall, Jr, John Rogers, James Saychizo, J. Casper, Gilbert Ward, and Allen C. Norine.
