Engine 2755, a Chesapeake and Ohio Kanawha Model 2700 engine and the 55th of its series, was one of 90 such models built in 1947. It hauled coal mined on property that now belongs to Chief Logan State Park about 90 miles to a steel mill in Russell, Kentucky. The engine weighed 1 million pounds, was built in Lima, Ohio, carried 30 tons of coal in its tender, and had a tender water capacity of 21,000 gallons. Steam engines such as this were abandoned with the invention of the diesel engine.
