Three streetcar lines, the #8, #14 and #9, met at Catonsville Junction, where a small business community developed. In 1906, Rudolph and Mary Elizabeth Diehlmann built a lunchroom and a general store that served passengers and employees of the Baltimore Transit Company. In 1939, the Diehlmanns sold part of their land to the Baltimore Transit Company for a streetcar turn around and waiting shelter. The shelter was built with Belgian block from the streets of Baltimore and was restored in 1997 by local resident David Ditman.
