All the men and women from the Winfield area who served in the armed forces of the United States of America are honored, especially those who made the supreme sacrifice to save lives and property, those who came home crippled and scarred for the rest of their lives, and those who served in the past and will in the future. Their families are also honored for enduring days, weeks, months, and even years of waiting for news of sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters, and for the suffering, anguish, grief, and continuing pain that came when only bad news arrived. In deep appreciation for the liberty enjoyed by the community, their memory is held in honor and they shall never be forgotten.
