South of Grand Bay, Alabama, this protected tract preserves 113 acres of piney flatwoods as part of the region’s conservation landscape. It was added to the Grand Bay Savanna Addition Tract State Nature Preserve after its acquisition in 2004, made possible with financial support from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the National Coastal Wetlands program. By expanding land first acquired in 1996, it strengthened protection for an important natural area.
