From 1933 to 1942, the Civilian Conservation Corps had more than 3.5 million enrollees, including 38,163 Kansas youth and veterans. The CCC left a legacy of improvements in natural resources and infrastructure. Company #4755, composed of black veterans of WWI, constructed this lake from 1936 to 1939. Clark E. Ingram of Canton, Kansas, served in the Civilian Conservation Corps' Foresty Service at Cass Lake, Minnesota, from April 6, 1934 to September 30, 1934.
