Johnson County Museum of History in Franklin, Indiana, grew from artifact displays in downtown store windows into a formal museum founded in 1931 by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. After beginning in the Johnson County Courthouse and later moving to the Suckow home, it settled in 1991 in the former Masonic Temple on Main Street. Its collections and exhibits span local and regional history from early inhabitants and pioneer settlement to Victorian life, the Civil War, later military service, and the 1950s. The site also includes a genealogy library, an 1830s cabin, and a building with its own significant past in Franklin.
