Buffalo River State Park was established in Arkansas in 1938 along the Buffalo River and was developed in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps using plans from the National Park Service Branch of Plans and Designs. After Buffalo National River was created in 1972, the state park became part of the new federal unit and the area came to be known as Buffalo Point. Its surviving CCC-era buildings and structures form a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places, tying the site to both New Deal park development and the later preservation of the Buffalo River. The area is also known for the scenic Indian Rockhouse Trail.
