Chartered in 1838, Carrollton Lodge No. 36 is among the oldest Masonic lodges in the state. Its hall, built in 1899, is the second oldest lodge hall in continuous use in Mississippi. Prominent Carroll County members included U.S. Senator Hernando D. Money, Admiral John S. McCain Sr., and State Auditor William D. Neal. Three members served as Grand Masters: William Cothran in 1858, William D. Neal in 1948, and Albert Dwain Dunn in 2005. Carrollton Lodge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
