The only existing ruts on the Hensley/Salt Lake Cutoff between Salt Lake City and Tremonton are in the field north of here. The easterly route went into Brownsville, now Ogden, while the westerly Bluff Road and center routes from Haight's Farm in Kaysville converged near here and then continued to Muskrat Springs. On July 19, 1853, Lorena Hays wrote of Salt Lake in sight that day, beautifully clear and calm, with silvery clouds resting on all the mountain tops and circling around, beneath a beautiful deep blue sky.
