Caboose number 477813 is an N5B series caboose made by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1941 and built in the Juniata Shops in Altoona, Pennsylvania. It was one of 200 N5B cabooses numbered 477620 through 477819. It measures 30 feet 7 ½ inches long, 9 feet 8 inches wide, and 13 feet 5 inches high, and it weighs 43,150 pounds. The N5B was a crewed North American railcar coupled to the end of a train, providing shelter for the flagman and rear brakeman as they watched for shifting loads, assisted in switching, and looked for equipment damage and overheated axles.
