John J. (Jack) Fox, mayor of Canton, South Dakota, served the community in many ways and had long before been designated Canton’s citizen of the year. He continued to make substantial contributions to the city through promoting patriotism, beautifying the city, developing parks, promoting recreation programs, and operating government economically. He also sought to keep lines of communication open with the people of Canton. In appreciation for everything he had done, the City Commission of Canton, South Dakota, designated the city park on Block 11 of the Original Plat of the City of Canton, Lincoln County, South Dakota, as Jack Fox Park on October 15, 1985.
