· The Dick & Willie Passage

1
The Dick and Willie was the first railroad to Henry County and was in full operation by 1884. Originally a narrow gauge line, it soon proved too small for the growing demand as the textile mills in the hamlets of present-day Eden thrived within a decade. The railroad was quickly converted to a standard gauge to accommodate larger freight cars, and it became a vital transportation link for textile mills, farm products, and furniture plants.
