William H. Hogan was born on January 15, 1920, in Hawkins, Tennessee, married Marie Anita Hunter of New Roads, Louisiana, and died on December 2, 2004, in New Roads. He attended Louisiana State University from 1938 to 1942, took part in LSU ROTC, and in 1942 received a commission as a second lieutenant. From 1942 to 1946 he served at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In 1948 he joined the Louisiana National Guard. From 1975 to 1977 he served as State Selective Service Director. On January 3, 1980, he achieved the rank of Brigadier General and was appointed by Governor Edwin Edwards as Chief of Staff for the Louisiana National Guard.
