A cornerstone from the old jail was preserved when a new jail building was erected in 1973. The old jail cornerstone names the county commissioners W. W. Wiseman, E. T. Edwards, and Chas. Brammer, along with auditor Mark S. Bartram and architect S. Floyd Hoard, and bears the date 1887. The new jail building names the board of county commissioners as Louis N. Bryant, Chr. W. Lt. Buddy Kaiser, and Jess Brammer.
