During World War II, Worthington honored eight hundred ten soldiers and sailors by listing their names, and it also identified a Gold Star list of those who died in service. Harman Roscoe Sturm served as clerk of Draft Board No. 2, while Lee James of Monongah and Harvey Fortney of Worthington were members of the Advisory Committee.
