Banner Lakes at Summerset State Park is a 222-acre Iowa state park in Warren County near Indianola, opened in 2004 on the site of a coal mine from the 1930s. Its two lakes were formed from the remnants of that mining landscape, giving the park its name. The park is a center for outdoor recreation, especially fishing, boating, hiking, and biking. Both lakes are stocked with trout and also support bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass, with a boat ramp at each. A paved 2-mile loop connects to the longer Summerset Trail, and the park also includes mountain bike courses, hiking trails, and the adjacent Banner Shooting Range.
