Kinder Farm Park is a 288-acre county park in Millersville, Maryland, preserving part of a former family farm in an area that became increasingly suburban after World War II. The park is named for the Kinder family, who began acquiring land in Anne Arundel County in 1892 and eventually owned 1,100 acres of farmland. As housing development expanded, the family sold portions of the property over time. In 1979, they sold the remaining 288 acres to the county with the condition that it become a park, helping preserve the farm’s history, open space, and connection to local agricultural traditions that community groups continue to sustain.
