Pathfinder National Wildlife Refuge in Wyoming encompasses 16,807 acres around Pathfinder Reservoir in southern Natrona and northern Carbon counties, about 20 miles southwest of Alcova. Divided into four sections bordering the reservoir, it is jointly managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, with administrative oversight from Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge in Colorado. The reservoir makes the refuge an important area for many migratory bird species, and pronghorn are also commonly seen there. With three campgrounds and three boat ramps, it serves both as wildlife habitat and as a center for outdoor recreation.
