The Hastings Theater opened in December 1920 with a showing of The Mask of Zorro starring Douglas Fairbanks. It was named for its owner and architect, local resident Foster Hastings, not for the village. Across the street, John Bokor's Nana's Lunch opened in 1926 and became famous for its Blue Plate Specials and banana cream pie. Before it closed in 1982, the New York Daily News called it "the last luncheonette."
