The Little Village Arch stands at the eastern gateway to West 26th Street, Little Village's vibrant retail corridor, which has been referred to as the "Mexican capital of the Midwest." Unique in Chicago as the only example of a street gateway inspired by historic gateways built at Mexican religious sites, haciendas, and walled towns, it may be the only such example north of the Rio Grande River. With its clay tile roof, stucco towers with domed roofs, and tiled span, the Arch exhibits materials and design details typically found in Mexico and conveys the living heritage of the Little Village community. It was designed by Mexican-American artist and architect Adrián Lozano.
