Zimmerman Kame, near Roundhead in northwestern Ohio, is a glacial hill and important archaeological site associated with the ancient Glacial Kame culture. Though it appears to be only a low, tree-covered rise amid farm fields, excavations revealed artifacts that halted gravel extraction there in the 1970s. Especially significant were small pottery objects, since this culture had not previously been known to make ceramics. The site is part of a broader cluster of archaeological remains in Hardin County, including many hilltop burials identified in early twentieth-century surveys. In 1974, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its research potential, the first kame of its kind to be so recognized.
