Z.T. Crouch, a Webb School employee, built this house in 1913 on a plat deeded from W. R. (Sawney) Webb. It was the home of H. Pearl and Virginia Wright Sain from 1959 to 1995 and the site of Sain Stables from 1960 to 1973. Here, owner Elizabeth F. (Betty) Sain trained Shaker's Shocker to become Tennessee Walking Horse World Grand Champion on Sept. 3, 1966, in Shelbyville, TN, and Betty became the first woman rider to win the championship.
