West Point Light stood at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, on Gee's Point at the northeastern tip of the post, about 45 miles above the Battery on a rocky projection into the Hudson River. It marked a sharp bend in one of the river's most dramatic reaches, opposite Constitution Island at the deep passage locally called Worlds End. The lighthouse was a low, square wooden tower painted white on the exposed rocky edge below the academy grounds, with the steep Hudson Highlands rising behind it. Though it no longer survives as an active aid to navigation, the site remains part of the Hudson's maritime and military history.
