Annie Wheeler, daughter of General Joseph Wheeler, was born on July 31, 1868, and died on April 10, 1955. She gallantly served her country three times on foreign soil: as a volunteer nurse in Santiago, Cuba, in 1898 during the Spanish-American War; in Manila, P.I., in 1899 during the Philippine Insurrection; and as a Red Cross worker with A.E.F. France in 1918 during World War I. She was beloved as a humanitarian and benefactor of mankind.
