The American Locomotive Company built the RS-3 diesel-electric four-axle road switcher locomotive, which produced 1600 horsepower from a 12-cylinder model 244 engine. The RS-3 was built from May 1950 to August 1956, and 1,370 were produced, including 1,265 for American railroads, 98 for Canadian railroads, and 7 for Mexican railroads. In 1975, this locomotive was sold to the three-mile-long Bauxite and Northern Railway at Bauxite, Arkansas. Equity Grain Co-op of Houston purchased it next after it suffered a broken crankshaft. A private individual later obtained it, and in 1995 it was sold for a nominal amount. It was restored to its initial MP appearance from 2000 to 2006.
