Founded in 1857 by Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Sr., this Carson Valley ranch grew from a ranch house built in the early 1860s into the valley’s largest ranch, eventually spanning 48,000 acres. The H. F. Dangberg Land and Live Stock Company ran a diversified operation with livestock, hay, and slaughtering that served both the ranch and neighboring properties. In the early 1900s, the Dangberg family, led by Henry Fred Dangberg Jr., also helped establish Minden on company land and backed many of its early buildings. The ranch remained active until 1978 and endures as a preserved historic site that vividly represents early ranching, family enterprise, and settlement in western Nevada.
