Navarro County honors its veterans who answered the call of duty to preserve freedom and all who lie silent in protection and defense of the spirit of democracy and the ideals of freedom. The memorial records the names of county servicemen who died in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and it also names William D. O'Brien of the U.S. Army, who died in Iraq on March 15, 2008, in the Global War on Terrorism.
